My Bio
Zulu Claire's replacment (June 26, 2014)

New variety with the potential grain attributes of the processors favourite variety Claire.
Good agronomic traits with WOBM resistance

User's rating:
Balado Short and stiff (June 25, 2014)

high yielding
low lodging risk
average disease resistance profile
good low input straw break crop
generally only feed quality oats

User's rating:
KWS Meridian High all round yield (June 25, 2014)

Very high yielding variety in terms of both grain and straw yields.
Good all round disease resistance profile but very prone to lodging especially on very fertile sites.
For very fertile sites go for its sister line Escadre, minor yield penalty but better standing ability despite what the recommended list says.

KWS Willow The flexaible choice (June 25, 2014)

For those of you who have crops that come off late in the autumn and want to follow them with wheat Willow is the answer!
It is winter hardy enough to be planted in a conventional winter wheat sowing time but would need a robust PGR program but works best when late autumn planted, also is the weather goes against you then you can put it in, in at the conventional spring wheat time and not have the worry of vernalisation that you would with a true winter wheat.
I have had Willow yield 10tn per ha when planted in the late autumn position!

User's rating:
Skyfall The future of group 1 (June 25, 2014)

Although still only provisional recommended Skyfall looks to be the new bench mark for group 1 wheat.
With a 6% yield advantage over Solstice and Gallant and a strong all round disease resistance profile it does look to be the obvious choice for group 1 growers.
Most millers have said privately that despite the provisional status they will be taking it this year.
Skyfall is a group 1 that yields as well as the highest yielding group 2 but with a group 1 premium.

User's rating:
Solstice Out classed (June 25, 2014)

Solstice is a very consistent variety but it has now been superseded in both yield and disease resistance.
Those looking to move on from Solstice should try Skyfall, although it is still only provisional recommended most millers have said privately that they will be taking it this year.

User's rating:
KWS Santiago High input - high output (June 25, 2014)

Santiago is a very high yielding variety with average to poor disease resistance, but with a good agronomy package it will out yield most others.
Not one for those who like to cut rates and stretch spray timings.
Defiantly worth considering an area of for professional growers.

User's rating:
Cubanita Cubanita (February 28, 2014)

This is one to watch for the future!! did very well with us last year, yields like a group 4 but with group 2 quality, can't go wrong either way!

User's rating:
Cougar Cougar (February 28, 2014)

for those of you who like growing alchemy look at cougar, it is Alchemy + 10% yield + OWBM resistance, though can be a bit low on bushel weight if not well managed.
