    REVIEW:

I suppose this is an 'old' variety in OSR terms but it is reliable and consistent. I tend to find an OSR variety that suits the farm and stick with it for several years, until a better variety is eventually found.
Being a hybrid, establishment is fast and late August drilling in a normal year is not a concern. Similarly it starts growing quickly in the spring and always gets a little early 'N'. It is sown at 30-35 seeds/m2 and even at plant populations in spring as low as15 /m2, yield is virtually unaffected.
An autumn fungicide is applied as Light Leaf Spot is the main disease in this region, and a spring fungicide with growth regulatory effect is also used. Flowering sprays have been tried but do not seem to have a significant effect on yield.
The variety can become tall but still stands well or lodges 'gracefully' presenting no harvest problems. The seed tends to be bold which makes combining that bit easier.
Yields are consistently good - 5 year average of 5.2 t/ha and oil content is normally in the higher percentage too.
