First Year Growing - Very Impressed

REVIEW:

first year growing Relay - has really tillered well this spring helping in our fight against black grass - however I feel we drilled it too thick, I would suggest cutting seed rates 10-15% due to its ability to tiller, and especially where we are applying poultry manure.
It does require a robust PGR programme, I would advise a split dose of Chlormequat + Trinexepac at GS30 and GS31/32
It doesn't have many disease weaknesses as such but a decent programme is still required on high potential soils - not to the levels of an Oakley or Santiago, etc
As this is the first year cannot comment on yield as not got there yet, but if looks are anything to go by it could be a bumper crop....time will tell

  REVIEW:

  This was by far our least favourite wheat variety this year. The yield was very poor in comparison to JB Diego, Grafton & Beluga.
  
  We grew 97 acres on medium loam warp soils on our farm in Sunk Island, East Yorkshire
  
  It is like a catwalk model, all leg & no head. It is far too leggy for our land.
  
  We were disappointed in this variety and won't be growing it again.

  REVIEW:

  As mentioned in my other reviews we had a terrible year for disease in our wheats. Both fusarium & septoria affected our crops. We also had really bad wet weather throughout August which again didn't help.
  
  We grew about 70 acres of Relay, from this we got an average yield of 3.75 which is average for our farm. It is disappointing because in May we thought it was going to be a bumper crop. Unfortunately we were then hit with the disease problems.
  
  We grew on sandy clay loam and drilled on the 23rd September.
  
  Next year we will be growing again and increasing to 100 acres.

  First year we've grown this variety, a bit slow to start but came in as one of our highest yielding in the end, and the disease profile proved very helpful in the season.
